Review: Alpro Cashew Milk Original [Gluten Free | Lactose Free | Vegan]

Cashews are one of my favourite nuts. The creaminess, the crunch…ugh they’re the best. My cupboard is always stocked up with the Alpro Unroasted and Unsweetened Almond Milk. When I saw that Alpro had started to produce a Cashew Milk I was eager to try it.

What’s in it?

Before pouring the Alpro Cashew Milk onto my cereal I had a quick look at the ingredients.

Water, Cashew (3.1%), Sugar, Calcium (Tri-Calcium Phosphate), Sea Salt, Stabilisers (Locust Bean Gum, Gellan Gum), Emulsifier (Sunflower Lecithin), Vitamins (Riboflavin (B2), B12, E, D2)

I was so disappointed to see that sugar was listed as one of the ingredients. I try to avoid sugar at all costs. Based on the added sugar alone this milk wouldn’t become a staple for me. The Alpro Cashew Milk contains 3.1% of cashews- not a big surprise to me as the Alpro Unroasted Almond Milk only contains 2.1% of almonds. Regardless of the low percentage of cashew nuts I was still hopeful that the Alpro Cashew Milk would be bursting with flavour.

How did it taste?

Horrible. I couldn’t taste any trace of cashew nuts and it wasn’t creamy  like I expected it to be. I was left with an aftertaste that made me feel a little nauseous. I won’t be finishing the carton or buying it again lol.
